Italian giants Inter Milan will be playing in the final of the UEFA Champions League for the second time in two years after beating FC Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in the semi-final on Tuesday.
The two giants, who share a total of eight trophies between them in the elite club competition in Europe, played out a pulsating 3-3 draw in the first leg at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Therefore, it was daggers drawn at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium as to who would make the final.
Just like in the first leg, the Nerazzuris opened the scoring, this time through Argentine Lautaro Martinez.
Hakan Calhanoglu made it two after he scored from the spot, a penalty given for a foul on Martinez in the box.
This seemingly outstretched the game beyond the Spanish giants.
However, two second-half goals from Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo gave the Catalans the needed boon and it became surreal three minutes to time when Raphinha, whose volley in the first leg deflected off Inter goalie Yann Sommer for the equaliser, shot the visitors into the lead.
However, an equaliser by the Italians in the dying embers forced the match into extra time.
The excitement inside San Siro tripled when Italian Davide Frattesi scored to book his side the first ticket to the final in Germany.
The two-legged encounter produced 13 goals.
The winners, Inter, will await the winner of the PSG-Arsenal game. The French giants lead by a goal to nil from the first leg at the Emirates.
