A final-year student of the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, identified only as Abass, has died, after reportedly falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Abass, a Business student and acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen down the storey during school hours, drawing the attention of students and staff to rush to the scene.
Reports indicate the young man had been contemplating suicide for some time. But the school authorities were not privy to this.
Some persons close to his family, including his mother and uncle, as well as some students, say Abass had previously hinted at harming himself, something they assumed to be a joke, making them treat the issue on a lighter note.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The regional education directorate is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
The body of the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic Traditions.
