Highlife musician Kofi Kinaata has been overwhelmed with excitement following a commendation from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The ‘Susuka’ hitmaker has continuously expressed his excitement on social media after an acknowledgement of his talent by the Asantehene on Monday, September 9.

During the General Conference of the Ghana Bar Association in Kumasi on Monday, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II extolled Kofi Kinaata in his speech, where he urged Ghanaians to reflect on Kinaata’s insightful phrase ‘Obi nya way3’ from his hit song ‘Susuka.’

The Asantehene highlighted the importance of appreciating Ghana and stressed that despite various challenges, many countries aspire to be like Ghana.

“We have a judiciary that may not be perfect but it deserves credit for the positive efforts. I can think of many countries which look at Ghana and to the seas ‘Y3 nyamuay3’.

“Sometimes listen to the wisdom of our musicians and reflect on a piece like Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Obi nya way3’ which means ‘Someone wishes they were like you,” Otumfuo remarked.

Since then, Kofi Kinaata has posted three times on social media to express his delight and recognition from the Asantehene.

He initially posted on social media that Otumfuo’s validation represents a significant life accomplishment for him.

In a later tweet, from what appeared to be a trip abroad, he posted a video showing him sitting behind his laptop, displaying pure joy, and listening closely to the Asantehene’s praise.
