John Dramani Mahama has asked Ghanaians to take a cue from what he describes as the deceit of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration in the past 8 years to inform their verdict on Saturday.
The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the current leadership led by Akufo-Addo is bereft of ideas for development and has resorted to deceiving the people to get their votes.
During a mega walk by the NDC in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, Saturday, November 29, 2024, John Mahama cited certain projects the President has inaugurated despite them not being completed.
He told the gathering to be wary of what he says is the lies told by the NPP to win the 2016 and 2020 elections, in order for them not to be swindled this time around.
Touting the NDC as a party that leads by deeds and not words, John Mahama says his party is the best bet for Ghanaians this Saturday.
“We should learn a lesson from the trials we’ve been through the past 8 years to know it is not everyone with sweet tongues that can govern the nation. For the NDC, we don’t talk, we do it,” he said in Twi.
He lamented how the NPP has sidelined the Ashanti region although they have been voting massively for the party over the years.
Likewise the other regions, Mahama noted that the government has put contractors on the roads to suggest it is doing something just to woo their votes, despite sidelining them for the past 8 years.
He described the attempts to be putting up projects as “419”.
“Let us be truthful, the NPP has not dealt fairly with Asanteman. Asanteman gives them more votes than any other place in this country but they have not completed a single project here. They did nothing in 8 years and because elections are near, they have now pushed contractors on the roads to show they are doing something.
“They are all 419. It is the NDC that will come and complete all the interchanges and roads they have started. It is not only in Asanteman that they are carrying out their 419. I’ve been to all the 16 regions in the country and they are doing same everywhere,” he stated.
