Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo has said his arrest is due to political pronouncement he made in the past.
Contrary to claim by Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai that he is being investigated for fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering, Akpaloo asserted that his arrest is solely a political move.
Speaking to the media shortly after his release, he said: “There’s nothing wrong. They said they are doing investigations but as you know it’s this same politics because all the things I said is what they are basing on to do this. There’s really nothing wrong.”
The 2024 Presidential Candidate was arrested on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 and granted GHC10 million bond with two sureties to be justified.
He was released on Thursday, September 11, 2025 after meeting his bail conditions.
