Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has broken his silence after his team’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The former Dortmund youth coach says there is still a chance for the Black Stars to qualify and they will make sure that chance is kept alive.

“Surely, we as Ghana should qualify for the AFCON,” he told the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in an interview made available on Youtube.

“It’s not over yet. Mathematically there is still a chance and we will do everything which is in our hands to hold this chance alive.”

The Black Stars would have to win their remaining games against Niger, at home, and Angola away with Sudan losing theirs if they would qualify.

Sudan will host already-qualified Angola while they play Niger away in their remaining games in November.

Coach Addo was disappointed with the outcome of Ghana’s two home matches, insisting they should have won but for luck.

“The reason I’m saying this is because it affects surely the tactical view of the away game when you have to win and if you won’t win your home games it makes your hopes worse.”

He said the situation has become a subject of lessons for him and the entire team.

“We can use this surely to learn from our mistakes.”
