Pupils in their uniforms stood helplessly with many obviously having no idea of what was going on when the youth of Kofitiakrom in the Jaman South municipality of the Bono Region destroyed dual desks donated to the school in the community.
Reports indicate that although the pupils are in dire need of desks, the residents say that is not a priority. Rather, they need a mobile network to help them make phone calls.
In a viral video on social media, the youth of the community, the men particularly, are seen breaking the dual desks presented to the school while the women and children stood and watched.
Some of the women were heard in the video saying “we don’t need desks, we need network” with one voice adding “our roads are bad, we need network not desks.”
Some of the women added whilst filming the showpiece with their phones, that, they were going to burn the desks to ashes.
