Jonathan Tetteh produced a disciplined and impressive performance to defeat Seth Gyimah, popularly known as “Freezy Macbones,” by unanimous decision on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, capturing the WBA Africa light heavyweight title.
The bout, staged during the Legacy Bout Showdown, carried extra tension and significance.
Freezy Macbones entered the ring as the heavy favorite, but the contest was widely viewed as a grudge match following the fighters’ previous clash for a single national slot during the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.
Entering the bout with identical knockout-heavy records, both fighters promised fireworks. However, it was Tetteh (11-0, 10 KOs) who controlled the contest with discipline, accuracy, and ring intelligence.
After eight competitive rounds, the judges scored the fight 80-73, 78-74, and 77-75 in Tetteh’s favor, reflecting his consistency across the bout.
Freezy Macbones (11-1, 10 KOs) showed trademark aggression but struggled to convert it into effective offense.
Many of his punches failed to find their target as Tetteh’s defense, footwork, and timing repeatedly neutralized the threat. Tetteh, by contrast, picked his shots well, landing cleaner combinations and dictating the pace.
A key moment came when Freezy was deducted one point for biting Tetteh, an incident that further shifted momentum and underscored his frustration in the ring. The deduction proved costly in an already tight contest.
With the victory, Jonathan Tetteh not only preserved his unbeaten record but also announced himself as a new force on the African light heavyweight scene.
Claiming the WBA Africa title marks a significant milestone in his career and positions him for bigger opportunities ahead, while Freezy will look to regroup and bounce back stronger.
