Women at the Juaping market in the North Tongue District of the Volta region have threatened to stop paying revenue if the sanitation situation is not attended to in the market.
They say the refuge dump situated in the market is very problematic and have established the need for it to be dealt with immediately.
Speaking to Onua TV at the Juapong market, the women said the refuse being dumped at the market coupled with the toilet exposes them to air pollution due to the foul smell that comes to the market, making it difficult for them to trade there.
They have called on the North Tongu District Assembly to be more responsible and do the needful or else, they will stop paying revenue.
The market women also complained about lack of security and street lights in the market.
Onua News’ efforts to get the North Tongu District Chief Executive, Divine Osborn Fenu, to speak to the issue failed.
Sanitation officers have also refused to grant our News team audience until the DCE speaks.
