A man believed to be in his late 20s has met his untimely death while another has been seriously injured, after a vehicle crashed them on a motorbike at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East municipality of the Central region.

The rider, according to reports, was displaying his riding skills with the deceased, –the pillion (the person sitting behind the rider) during the Ramadan festivities.

Central East Regional MTTD Commander, Superintendent Hannah Agyei, addressing the media during the Ramadan indicated that, the incident killed the pillion on the spot, injuring the rider.

She advised the youth to be circumspect in their celebrations for incident-free Ramadan.

“Around 5:30 am this morning, a motor rider and a pillion rider were knocked down by a vehicle and unfortunately the pillion rider died. We don’t want to record any accident in 2024 ‘Salafest’ so we are pleading with you to abide by the rules. We need to prove on what we did last year,” she relayed.

The rider, who is in a critical condition, according to Onua News’s Nana Yaw Asare, is receiving treatment at the Kasoa Polyclinic.
