King Faisal Babes FC’s protest against Basake Holy Stars FC in Zone 2 of the Division One League has been dismissed.

The petition against Basake Holy Stars for fielding an ineligible player was dismissed by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after investigations.

According to King Faisal, who lie 10th in Zone 2, unused substitute Daniel Adjei in their Matchday 29 clash against Holy Stars, is the same as Daniel Kankam registered earlier by Tarkwa New Site Achiesu FC.

But upon investigations by the Committee led by lawyer Osei Kwadwo Adow, though the player is the same person, Basake Holy Stars cannot be held liable since they bought him from Tarkwa Barcelona FC and registered him with the same details on his certificate.

King Faisal was accused of forging documents “with the intention to mislead and deceive this Committee”.

“The Committee hereby warns King Faisal FC to refrain from such acts of falsifying facts in the attempt to deceive a judicial body,” the report stated.

The Kumasi-based club was fined GH¢5,000 while the player has had his license revoked.

The dismissal of the case all but clear Basake Holy Stars as winners of Zone 2 and, therefore, qualifying to the Ghana Premier League.

The three points see them go 5 points adrift the table with New Edubiase in second place.
