Debutants Basake Holy Stars FC have clinched a vital 1-0 victory over former champions Hearts of Oak on the first day of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
An early strike by Prince Tweneboa at the Accra Sports Stadium was the separator in Sunday’s game.
Hearts of Oak have beefed up their squad in preseason and had gone on camping in neighbouring Togo in an attempt to mount a strong challenge for the title, won by FC Samartex 1996 last season.
But Aboubacar Ouattara’s boys could not give him what he hoped for as they lost not only their first game but a first home game.
