Unlike President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration was devoid of nepotism, King Kwasi Kyei Darkwa, has asserted.
The family and friends governance being practiced by Akufo-Addo led administration according to KKD is adversely affecting progress since poor performers are not whipped in line.
Juxtaposing J.A Kufuor’s era with the status quo, he wondered if the office of the Chief of Staff is merely ceremonial or otherwise.
He explains the sacking of Dr. Richard Anane, a minister under Kufuor’s adminstration who impregnated a lady after being sent on an HIV programme abroad cannot be said of today where people indulge in insubordination and go unpunished.
Then Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani, duly advised the president to do the needful by ousting Dr. Anane despite his relationship with him, for the sake of the image of the government they needed to protect.
He had made those comments on Captain Smart’s show, ‘Maakye’ on Monday, August 22, 2022 on Onua TV/FM.
Describing the current Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare as someone who is up to the task, he wondered if she truly has the power to exercise her role or there are some other powers acting in her stead.
“Kufuor did not do family and friends. If that was what he did, Kwadwo Mpiani wouldn’t have told him he was sacking Richard Dr. Anane. Kwadwo was thinking of the disgrace that they would have left their government with even if they hadn’t retain power,” he held.
“Are we giving Frema the chance to work? Or those who haven’t gotten to her role are rather those wielding the real power?,” he asked.
