The ‘Maakye’ team on Onua TV, led by Captain Smart has intercepted some documents, which led to the tracking of activities with the National Security to come up with videos indicating how people are evading taxes at Ghana’s points of entry.

The Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) and the Deputy Commissioner of the GRA, in charge of Operations, Joseph Adu Kyei have both been cited in this scandal.

According to Captain Smart, host of the show, he informed the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah on September 23, 2021 after getting intelligence on how people were transporting goods from the Port without going through the approved procedure.

After following up on some containers at the port, they observed that some goods were passing through with fake documents, content of containers undeclared, no duties paid whilst others were being strangled to pay.

He reveals a Custom Officer by name John Abgewu arrested the containers that went through without checks. The owner, a woman, told the officer to release her goods to her if he wanted to keep his job.

Video evidence taken by the Maakye team and the National Security has it that, the woman called Col. Damoah who also phoned his Staff Officer to call Agbewu to allow the woman to go unconditionally.

The Deputy Commissioner of the GRA, in charge of Operations, Joseph Adu Kyei also called Abgewu to release the goods if he wanted his job.

Watch Captain Smart detail the report, with chronological explanation of what ensued on the said case which implicate the two top officials.
