Management of Asante Kotoko have parted ways with defender Mohammed Nurudeen after an emergency meeting on Sunday, August 4.

The meeting was held after management noted that Nurudeen, who was signed on before the 2023/24 season on a three-year deal, was seriously enrolled as a practising nurse, hence having a contract with the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

“The club explored all possible options to convince him to focus on his football career, but Nurudeen remained committed to his career in nursing,” Asante Kotoko said in a statement on Sunday.

“In light of this, an emergency meeting was convened on Sunday, August 4, 2024, where the Interim Management Committee (IMC) agreed to part ways with the player in the best interest of both parties.

“This decision was made to maintain the cohesion the team is building for the new season.”

Management of the club assured supporters that “the club will not suffer any financial or sporting penalties due to this decision and wishes Nurudeen the best for the future”.

Mohammed Nurudeen was signed from RTU

Kotoko will open their 2024/25 campaign away at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium against Karela United.
