Matthew Nyindam, the beleaguered Member of Parliament for Kpandai, is building his hopes on his faith in God, ahead of the legal challenge against his election as representative for the constituents.
He has expressed a demure optimism as the case regarding his annulled election heads towards a decisive stage.
The lawmaker tells Accra-based JoyNews in a Tuesday, December 9, 2025 interview that the Supreme Court has set a date for the matter, expressing his expectations on hope in God as things unfold.
“We are in the appeal court, and we are still waiting. The Supreme Court has set a date of December 16 to listen to us. The rest is a matter for the lawyers; it is technical. Whichever way they want to go, I believe that I have a God. Everybody is destined one way or another. Wherever my destiny lands me, so be it,” he expressed.
The Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, upheld a petition filed by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, who argued that the December 7, 2024, election was marred by significant irregularities. The court subsequently ordered a rerun within 30 days, a ruling that has sparked fierce reactions from the Minority.
In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, informed EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the judgment delivered on November 24, 2025, necessitates a fresh election.
The case, referenced as Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25, named the Clerk of Parliament as the fourth respondent.
The notification, issued under Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, officially triggers the electoral processes required for a rerun in the Kpandai Constituency.
