The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in the Kpandai parliamentary election, Matthew Nyindam, is very popular on the ground ahead of the rerun of the polls, Pollster Mussah Dankwah has said.

Mussa Dankwah indicated that past figures from the constituency show the popularity of Nyindam in the area.

“I think he is popular, Matthew Nyindam is strong on the ground,” he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, December 13.

Mussa Dankwah further said that the rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election is going to be fiercely contested by the two leading political parties.

He says they expect the polls to be very close.

“We expect the race to be very fierce; early indication shows that we are not going to be surprised as to how close this will be. It is going to be very close,” he said.

“The numbers are very tight,” he added.

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election, scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

This decision followed a directive from the Tamale High Court, which on Monday, 24th November 2025, ordered a rerun of the election to be conducted within thirty (30) days.

The Commission’s action was further triggered by the receipt of a formal notification from the Clerk to Parliament on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, declaring the constituency’s parliamentary seat vacant.

In a press release, the EC stated that the rerun will be contested exclusively by the three candidates who participated in the original 2024 Parliamentary Election for the Kpandai Constituency.
