The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana has asked its striking members to open their shops.
The leadership of the traders group made the call after an indoor meeting with the Ashanti regional minister Thursday, October 13, 2022.
The public relations officer of the group, Paul Asabre Pinamang, who addressed the media after meeting with the regional minister disclosed Simon Osei Mensah has assured that “their grievances shall be channelled to the appropriate quarters.”
He further stated that among other concerns, was the stationing of GRA officers at their shops and that the regional minister has directed for the officers to be withdrawn.
“We petitioned the president through the regional minister. The regional minister has told us that he has directed the GRA to withdraw their officers from our shops and has assured us that our petition shall be tabled before the President and Parliament for consideration,” he said.
They, therefore, goaded their members to open their shops as they anticipate a positive feedback following their petition.
Aggrieved traders at Adum have closed their shops to press home a reduction of a 6% business levy, stationing of GRA staff at offices to ensure tax compliance and the plummeting Cedi.
