A recent incident in Kumasi has sparked controversy, as a 3-storey building opposite the Kumasi Zoo was locked up by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly without prior notification to traders occupying the building.

The traders, led by Maame Nyarko, claim they were given no warning and are now facing significant hardship.

The traders are worried about their livelihoods, as all their goods and merchandise are currently stocked up inside the locked building.

With schools reopening, they are struggling to buy books, pay fees, and feed their families. The traders are pleading with the authorities to grant them a 3-month period to sell off their goods from the locked stores.

We are appealing to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene to address the matter urgently. We believe the president’s involvement could help resolve the situation and allow us to resume trading.

The lack of communication has left them feeling frustrated and helpless.

The traders are calling for urgent action to resolve the situation. They believe a 3-month period would give them sufficient time to sell off their goods and find alternative arrangements.

The situation highlights the challenges faced by traders in Kumasi and the need for effective communication between city authorities and business owners.

Attempt to speak to KMA officials proved futile as the KMA Boss, Ofori Agyemang Boadi was not available.
