President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The elections were held on Wednesday, March 12 at the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Confederation in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian football administrator contested the elections unopposed in his capacity as the President of sub-regional body West African Football Union (WAFU).
Earlier this year, precisely in January, he passed an integrity test for the elections.
With his election, he becomes the first Ghanaian after former GFA President and CAF Vice President Kwesi Nyantakyi to join the Committee.
He, however, becomes the sixth Ghanaian after Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere and Nyantakyi to rise to that position.
The Executive Committee of CAF is the highest decision-making body of the continent’s football-governing body.
Its members elect the President of the Confederation every four years.
