One person has been confirmed dead with 17 others sustaining varying degrees of injuries in a Wednesday, June 26, 2024 accident involving a sprinter bus with registration number GE 6792-23.

The accident occurred at Danteng, a community off the Accra – Kumasi Highway near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Speaking to Onua News’ Yaa Yeboah Boamah, the Nkawkaw Fire Station Officer, Bismark Dankyi, explained that one out of the passengers that were on the bus had passed on at the time they got to the scene.

“We had a distress call at our station 12:31 and by 12:37, we were here. There were 18 passengers on the car and one of them had passed when we arrived. We rescued the other injured persons.

Per my investigations, the car was coming from Accra to Kumasi and got its tyres burst when it got to Asona”

Meanwhile, Sulley Mohammad, an eyewitness who also spoke with our news team explained that they saw the car at a top speed from the opposition direction and got its tyres burst after falling in a pothole, sending it into the bush.

“When we got here, we saw the vehicle coming on top speed from the sharp curve of the opposite direction. All of a sudden the car got missing and my brother said it has fallen inside the pit. So I asked the taxi driver to stop and when we got there, it was inside. We’ve been able to rescue all the people except two whom the vehicle fell on,” he shared.
