The leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews, a.k.a. Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has outlined his vision of free port and revival of state-owned factories as his party’s approach to economic development for Ghana.

He says the overdependent on the ports for revenue over the years has hikes prices of goods raising the cost of living.

Osofo Kyiri Abosom envisions a country where the natural resources would rather become the bedrock of the state’s sources of funds rather than the excessive levying which has made life unbearable for many.

“We are going to do free ports for everyone to get things cheap in the country because it is not the ports that we are going to depend on to build the country, we have natural resources.

“There is no longer going to be import duties on goods. There will be little charges on some goods from abroad so that things will be very cheap in the country,” he Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

The founder of Life Worship Centre entreated Ghanaians to vote for the GUM to revise defunct state enterprises to widen the employment scope of the country to get more people on the labour market.

Kyiri Abosom explained that reviving state-owned enterprises was the surest way to curb the economic hardship confronting the citizenry.
