The 2024 New Patriotic Party running mate, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, says true essence of leadership is only achieved when a leader’s work uplifts the people he serves, not when it serves his or her own interest.
In a statement on his Facebook page, on Thursday, April 30,2026, Dr Opoku Prempeh, said, “reflecting on my years in public service, and more recently outside of office, one truth continues to stand out: leadership must inure to the people we serve.”
He added that, “In my engagements with aspiring leaders, colleagues, and recently at the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program at Harvard University, I have emphasised that it cannot be business as usual. The responsibility of leadership demands more.
Our actions carry real consequences. Every promise made inspires hope, and with it comes a clear expectation of delivery, because these decisions directly shape the lives and futures of our people.”
According to Dr Prempeh, “The true test of leadership is not in what is promised, but in what is executed: how policies and programmes move from intention to impact.”
He indicated that over the next month, he will be using his Facebook page to share lessons drawn from experience and reflection on leadership, service, and execution.
