Jamaican Reggae icon Clive Hunt has disclosed why he never worked with global reggae legend Bob Marley though they knew each other.

According to him, he did not feel like doing so.

“I am the man Bob Marley asked maybe five times to work with him, and I said no. I got a revolution in me, and I am able to say no.

I didn’t work with him, but I worked with Peter Tosh” he told Blakk Rasta on the 3FM Urban Blend Show on April 16.

Clive Hunt recounted that as a teenager, he worked with the top reggae musicians in the world and was proficient enough with musical instruments. His understanding of the theory of music, the range and capabilities of each musical instrument enabled him to rub shoulders with the best and ended up backing the Wailers with his band.

“I loved their performance, but I noticed Bob had a different spirit from Peter and Bunny. I was always watching Bob Marley and the type of people he talked with and he also noticed that the people he loved and respected in music always come to me whenever they come around.

Somebody told him I played the flute and there was a Denis Brown song which was at number one that I played the flute on. So he called me to ask if I would join him for a tour and I said no, sorry man I don’t play that well” Clive recalled.

“After a while I got to know him more and Trenchtown vibes around him, a lot of rude boy and rough stuff and I didn’t want to be involved in that too.

I didn’t want to hook up with him because he had too many rude boys around him. I was afraid I might have a confrontation with some of them, so I decided to stay away,” he explained.

Clive Hunt has a tall list of artists he has worked with including: Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Peter Tosh, Wailers, Grace Jones, Max Romeo, Pablo Moses, Jimmy Cliff, Johnny Clarke, Judy Mowatt, Devon Irons, Duke Reid, Sister Carol, Marcia Griffiths, Yasus Afari, J.C.
