The Electoral Commission (EC) has directed its officers that effective Thursday, May 09, 2024, they should transition to the offline mode for the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.

This comes after the registration was adversely impacted by network challenges Wednesday afternoon, preventing many people from registering.

A statement from the Commission dated Wednesday, May 08, 2024, and signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Michael Boadu, relayed the EC’s apologies to the public for the inconvenience caused during the challenges.

“The Commission wishes to inform all its stakeholders and the General Public that some challenges were experienced with the network this afternoon, affecting the Online mode of registration. The Commission has directed its District Officers to switch to the Offline mode of registration beginning tomorrow, the 9th of May, 2024.

“The Commission apologises for the delays experienced this afternoon.

“The Commission assures its stakeholders that should there be a backlog of voters at the end of the twenty-one (21) day process, the registration exercise will be extended beyond the 27th of May, 2024 deadline,” the statement noted.
