Lisa Quama and Big Kumz, members of the famous dance group in Ghana, DWP, recently shared their passion for dance.
They shared this exciting story of their passion on the afternoon show with Anita Akua Akuffo.
For Lisa Quama, dance has been a lifelong passion. She fondly recalls her mother dancing for her before meals as a baby, highlighting the deep-rooted connection she has with dance from the onset.
While she began dancing professionally in senior high school, her journey wasn’t without its challenges. Lisa’s mother initially imposed restrictions due to late-night practices, and the fact that balancing school with dance proved tough, sometimes forcing her to miss school for dance classes.
Despite these hurdles, Lisa persevered and eventually found her footing in the dance industry. The turning point came when she started performing in Times Square, New York.

Just like Lisa, Big Kumz also started at a young age but began dancing professionally after graduating from the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2021. Despite initial reservations from his parents, Big Kumz pursued dance with unwavering dedication. His journey began with a session with Afrobeat and DanceGod, and he knew right then that dance was his true calling.
Convincing his parents wasn’t easy, but his passion and determination ultimately proved them wrong. Big Kumz emphasizes the importance of being authentic in one’s passion, a principle that has driven him to succeed in the competitive dance industry.
Both Lisa and Big Kumz credit their success to their passion for dance and the guidance of their coaches. They stress the importance of following one’s passion and staying true to oneself, as this authenticity is what resonates with audiences. Though dance can be exciting, they caution that it also comes with its risks, including the potential for injuries. However, for Lisa and Big Kumz, the thrill of dance far outweighs the challenges.
As influential figures in the dance community, Lisa Quama and Big Kumz are committed to inspiring the next generation of dancers. They encourage young dancers to follow their coaches and mentors, as this can lead to fame and influence in the industry.
Through their journey, they hope to show that with dedication, passion, and hard work, anyone can achieve their dreams in the world of dance. Their passion, resilience, and commitment to their craft serve as a beacon of hope for aspiring dancers everywhere. With their talent and dedication, they are undoubtedly taking Ghanaian dance to the world stage.
