Parliament of Ghana says the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, is in stable condition after he fell ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on September 24.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, Parliament said it had noted with concern a video circulating on social media showing the MP taking ill at the event.
“The Honourable Member received immediate assistance at the event and was transferred to a medical facility, where he is receiving medical attention,” the statement said.
“Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team.”
Parliament thanked the Management and staff of GIMPA, the attending medical personnel and all who responded promptly, and also thanked the public for prayers and goodwill messages.
It urged the public and the media to desist from sharing the video out of respect for the MP and his family, refrain from speculation on the cause of the incident, and respect the privacy of the family.
Background
The incident occurred on September 24, 2026, while the Madina MP was speaking at an event at GIMPA. According to 3News sources, he was sharing his personal experiences, leadership and public service when he suddenly paused.
3News reported that he had said: “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark,” before exhibiting signs of exhaustion. The protocol team intervened to prevent him from falling and rushed him off the stage for medical attention. 2649

In a separate statement on Thursday, the Office of the MP said Sosu was doing well and had received the necessary medical attention following the incident, while appealing to the public to disregard unverified reports and speculation.
