Sammy Gyamfi has expressed interest in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aligning with Alan Kyerematen’s Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) to secure power in the December 2024 polls.

The National Communications Officer of the NDC says John Mahama’s record in fighting corruption is similar to that of the leader of the ARC, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the reason he would want them to align with the NDC to win power in this year’s elections.

Alan Kyerematen served as Trades and Industry Minister under both John Agyekum Kufuor and William Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administrations. But following some inefficiencies that occurred during the party’s presidential primary which he contested, he resigned to form the Movement for Change to contest the 2024 election as independent candidate.

Meanwhile, he has now joined forces with other movements to form an alliance –Alliance for Revolutionary Change –including Dr. Abu Sakara’s Foster’s National Interest Movement (NIM) and about 10 other groups.

On Saturday, May 04, 2024, during a discussion on the Attorney-General’s advice to EOCO against probing the Cecilia Dapaah matter on TV3’s KeyPoints, senior advisor to Alan Kyerematen, Nana Ohene Ntow, indicated that between the three persons seeking the mandate of presidency in this year’s polls, Alan Kyerematen stands top when it comes to incorruptibility.

Sammy Gyamfi, in a quick reaction said John Mahama, when he served as President, demonstrated astute commitment towards fighting the canker, the reason he spearheaded the prosecution of individuals who indulged in corrupt practices in his administration.

He was quick to add that Alan Kyerematen, as he has known him, has never been cited for any corruption for all the years he served in public office, and it would be proper that his alliance joined forces with John Mahama to defeat the NPP in December this year.

Addressing Nana Ohene Ntow, Sammy Gyamfi said “but you know, for a long time that Alan’s brother, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, when it comes to the commitment to the fight against corruption, including prosecuting your own party people, nobody under this Fourth Republic has demonstrated that commitment than John Mahama. He did it in the GYEEDA case, he did it in the National Service scandal, he did it in the Smarttys-bus branding scandal, where he ensured that payments made under illegal contracts were retrieved for the state. People were prosecuted, including his own party people.”

“That is the man we are talking about. Your candidate has some similarities with him. So we can partner and rescue this country.” he said.
