President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Banjul, capital of The Gambia.
He is on a two-country visit to The Gambia and Senegal to thank the Heads of State of the two West African nations for their participation in the Presidential inauguration ceremony on January 07, 2025.
The visit is also in furtherance to President Mahama’s commitment to strengthening good relations with Ghana’s West African neighbours.
Mahama has already expressed the need for nations within the sub-region to put their heads together to curb the ongoing insurgency that has disturbed the peace in the area over the period.
During a visit of the Prime Minister of Mali, Abdoulaye Maiga, to Ghana Thursday, January 16, 2025, they discussed how countries within the sub-region needed to avert the ongoing terrorism at the Sahel to avoid ramifications on the remaining nations.
He expressed optimism that West Africa will be able to unite again despite some nations’ decision to secede from ECOWAS.
The President is expected to return home today from Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
