Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has disclosed that a high-level committee of experts is developing an African Union Strategy and Implementation Document for President John Dramani Mahama ahead of his assumption of the AU chairmanship in January 2027.
The committee, chaired by Ablakwa, comprises diplomats, academics, public officials and experts with extensive experience in African affairs.
Its members are: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP) – Chair, Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, Ambassador Kwasi Quartey, Ambassador Chris Kpodo, Ambassador Amma A. Twum-Amoah, Dr Delese Mimi Darko, Ambassador William Awinador-Kanyirige and Larry Gbevlo-Lartey.
Other members include; Dr Edem Adzogenu, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Ambassador Francis D. Kotia, Dr Obodai Torto and Clarence Amoatey.
According to Ablakwa, President Mahama is determined to ensure an impactful and transformative tenure from day one, with the objective of responding to the legitimate expectations of Africa’s estimated 1.5 billion people.
The Foreign Affairs Minister commended members of the committee for their dedication and sacrifices towards preparing the strategy.
He also invited members of the public to share their views on the issues and priorities they believe President Mahama should focus on during his tenure as African Union Chairman.
