President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the former President and flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a failed President who does not deserve another opportunity.
Instead, he says Ghanaians should vote for his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who has been tried and tested to possess the qualities of a leader.
He says the best amongst the two main contenders to take Ghana to higher heights is Dr. Bawumia and not John Dramani Mahama, considering the experience and skills gathered by his Vice over the years.
According to Akufo-Addo, John Mahama failed in his previous term, the reason Ghanaians need a fresh President like Bawumia to take the country from the current abysmal state it is in.
Akufo-Addo, speaking to a gathering of professional groups in Kumasi Sunday, November 24, 2024, emphasized the pivotal role of the Ashanti region in securing electoral victory for the NPP.
He admonished the gathering to choose Bawumia since Mahama was rejected in his second term because he performed woefully when he had the chance as President.
“We have two people who are in the race. One, a failed president and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. There are four other people who have had the blessing of the Almighty and the support of the people of Ghana to become presidents of Ghana.”
“Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, John Dramani Mahama, and myself. Of all these, Jerry John Rawlings had a second term, John Agyekum Kufuor had a second term, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had a second term.”
“The only one who was not given a second term was John Dramani Mahama and the reason is that he did a poor job,” he insisted.
Akufo-Addo went on to highlight the Ashanti region’s importance in ensuring a strong voter turnout and rallying support for the NPP.
He urged them not to repeat the mistake of 2008 when the NPP lost power to the NDC.
