On Monday, August 11, 2025, the management and staff of Media General Ghana Limited paid their respects to the eight individuals who lost their lives in the military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6.
Led by the Group’s Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Beatrice Agyemang, General Manager for Marketing Daniel Amarh, and other managers and staff, the Group held a wreath-laying ceremony at the Jubilee House forecourt, where public officials, organisati ons, and individuals have been honouring the victims.
The GCEO, who spoke on behalf of the Group, said it was paramount that they attend the ceremony to pay their final respects to the deceased, as many of them were individuals they had worked closely with.
The Wednesday, August 6, 2025 helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom district claimed eight lives, including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The Ghana Armed Forces earlier reported that the Z-9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, had gone “off the radar” shortly after departure from Accra at 09:12 GMT. The aircraft was en route to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining operation. A search-and-rescue mission later confirmed that all eight on board had died.
Some other staff who joined the ceremony were Martin Asiedu-Dartey, Johnnie Baresford Hughes, Blessed Godsbrain Smart and Alfred Ocansey, amongst others.
