General Manager for Media General News, Astus Kwasi Ahiagble has reaffirmed the media organisation’s commitment to amplifying public voices on climate change and creating opportunities for citizens to influence policies aimed at addressing the crisis.

Speaking at Climate Talks 2026, Accra Edition on Tuesday, October 27, Kwasi Ahiagble said TV3 partnership with the German Embassy for the dialogue on climate change reflected the company’s shared commitment to building a safer country by giving people the opportunity to speak about climate-related challenges affecting their communities.

“We are proud to be partners because it shows our shared commitment to ensuring that we have a safe world, safe country. We do not only talk about other issues of politics. We care about the people and that is why we have invested a lot of time and energy to follow this train from one place to another to give our people the opportunity to air out their views on what is affecting them when it comes to climate,” Astus noted.

He said the Climate Talks 2026 had been organised across Ghana to engage communities and gather views of persons affected by climate change.

“We have travelled the length and breadth of Ghana and wherever we go, what we hear the people say is TV3, German Embassy, we thank you for bringing this conversation here,” he said.

According to him, the public’s response shows that Ghanaians are willing to engage in candid discussions about climate change and contribute to finding solutions to the challenges facing the country.

“For us as a media organisation, what this tells us is that the people are ready to have this candid conversation and what this also tells us is that, people are ready to address the issues that affect us as a nation when it comes to climate,” he remarked.

Mr Ahiagble said MG News would continue to provide a platform for citizens to share their experiences, ensuring their concerns reach policymakers and inform decisions on climate action.

“What we promise to provide going forward is the enabling environment, grant them the opportunity to air their views, carry their message across the length and breadth, speak to policymakers, contribute to making the right policy to ensure that we counter this worldwide problem,” he said.

He encouraged participants at the event to contribute actively to the discussions and ensure their voices were heard, stressing the importance of public participation in tackling climate change.
