The Kintampo Municipal Health Directorate has received a boost in its efforts to improve healthcare delivery, following a generous donation from the Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Kwame Kumah.

The donation, which includes GH¢20,000 cash, motorbikes, delivery beds, oxygen cylinders, and other equipment, is aimed at addressing the accommodation challenges faced by health workers in the municipality.

The gesture is in response to a 3news’ report on February 20, 2026 which highlighted the plight of medical doctors and other health professionals in the municipality who were struggling to find decent accommodation.

According to the Medical Superintendent of the Kintampo Municipal Hospital, Dr. Anthony Twum, the hospital was at risk of losing two newly posted medical doctors due to the accommodation challenges.

Mr Kumah, who made the donation on Tuesday, said he was compelled to act after learning about the situation. “During my engagement with management of the hospital, I was told they needed a one-year rent advance payment for accommodation for the doctors, but I decided to pay for two years,” he said.

The MP emphasized that the donation is part of his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the municipality and urged his constituents to desist from making monetary demands from him for personal building projects. He said “the donation is funded by my share of the NHIS fund and so those who might see this and want to approach me for money for their personal building projects should note that it’s a public fund meant for public projects, not private”.

The Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Alfred Ampofo, commended the MP for his continuous support toward effective healthcare delivery in the Municipality and appealed to other stakeholders to also contribute to the development of the health sector.

“We need more working tools and equipment to enable us provide quality healthcare services to the people. This is not his [the MP’s] first time of donating to us. He has been doing a lot including renovating some of our buildings. But we still need more help. So, I’m appealing to the churches, Mallams, NGOs and other stakeholders to emulate the MP’s kind gesture by donating more to support us”,  Dr. Ampofo said.
