Constituency Chairman for the NDC in Asawase in the Ashanti region Faisal Dauda has described his Member of Parliament Alhaji Mubarak Muntaka as a ruler who exercises total power harshly with no legal limits.

There has been an unhealthy relationship between the Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak, and some constituency executives including the Chairman since the party held its internal elections in 2022.

The internal wranglings commenced after the MP, Muntaka Mubarak, admonished delegates to retain incumbent executives during their elections. However, most of those he campaigned for lost their positions to new executives, including the current Chairman.

Speaking exclusively on Akoma FM’s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma Thursday, January 12, 2023, Mr. Dauda averred the Member of Parliament has been plotting to go unopposed to have his way into Parliament for the fifth consecutive term.

Mr Dauda who is also known as Chairman Concern told host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “Muntaka is a tyrant. He runs the constituency outside the tenets of the party constitution but me as a Chairman, I will ensure that democracy is upheld and for that matter we will open the floor for interested NDC persons to contest the primaries. But left for Muntaka alone, he would go unopposed.”

The ongoing brouhaha between Faisal Dauda and his MP, Muntaka, has created tension in the Asawase constituency leaving the only NDC constituency in Kumasi divided.

Some youth groups in the party within the constituency have since appealed to the National Executives Council to swiftly intervene to ensure extra damages are not caused to deepen the cracks and forfeit the party from clinging power in 2024.
