Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty, has said that her dream for the music industry is to build a theatre one day.
Empress Gifty was answering questions on Onua FM’s Mid-morning Show, Adwuma-Adwuma, hosted by Felicia Osei on whether she was aware that the two leading political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had included the growth of the creative arts industry in their manifestos.
She said she hadn’t heard of this but emphasized that it doesn’t concern her as long as her personal needs—such as access to a studio and having her songs recorded and played—are met.
Gifty shared her aspiration to build an ultra-modern theatre once she has the financial means. The gospel musician said she would consider renting it out, using the National Theatre as a reference, or potentially collaborating with an investor.
“My dream is to build a theatre one day if I have the money or an investor,” she explained.
She added that the ultramodern theatre will be used for stage plays, concerts or anything which concerns arts and crafts or anything you want to create.
“That is my vision because with the political parties, four years will come and go but the creative industry will remain the same way it is”, she added.
