The National Health Students’ Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has welcomed the President’s decision to streamline the payment of allowances for nursing and teacher-trainees.

President John Dramani Mahama over the weekend announced that the payment of the allowances will now be made through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).

This, is what NAHSAG says is the best way to go, expressing the hope that the development will eliminate the delays in the payment of the stipends.

In a statement issued by the Association Sunday, March 23, 2025, it said the initiative will go a long way to foster their studies since the delays will be sorted by the directive.

“This development is a significant milestone for NAHSAG, as it has addressed a long-standing issue of our members. Financial stability of nursing trainees would be enhanced, enabling them to focus more on their studies and practical training,” the statement indicated in some parts.

“Once again, NAHSAG expresses its heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, the President and the Government of Ghana for taking this proactive step in prioritizing the welfare of health students and teacher trainees and NAHSAG looks forward to continued support in addressing the needs of healthcare students and professionals in Ghana,” added the statement.
