The NAIMOS taskforce has arrested five (5) thugs dressed in khaki trousers, military porches and desert boots at Kyebi Akwadum in the Abuakwa South District of the Eastern Region.
This is according to a statement released on January 2.
“The 5 thugs were caught going round galamsey sites and faking as part of the NAIMOS Taskforce and extorting monies from the illegal miners. Their names are:
1. Wisdom Miwoneko
2. Casimir Nunekpeku
3. Moses Dabiam
4. Christopher Amakor
5. Paul Agbanu (driver of the team).”

The arrest follows receipt of intelligence by NAIMOS about presence of the thugs in the Eastern Region who were posing as national security operatives at some galamsey sites and extorting huge sums of monies from galamseyers.
The NAIMOS Taskforce quickly acted on the intelligence and caught the thugs who were onboard a Mitsubishi Pickup with Registration Number GS 563 – 25.

The thugs had in their possession the following:
1. 8× mobile phones
2. 1× jack knife
3. 1× handcuff
4. 1× pepper spray
5. Military pattern porches
The thugs have since been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and prosecution.
