The Majority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has said it is better to vote for an arrogant person who can transform the economic fortunes of Ghana rather than someone who is not arrogant but cannot transform the economy.

He says the assertion being made by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is arrogant, is not true.

According to him, the NDC since 2007, made same allegations against then candidate Akufo-Addo which did not work, and believes same will not work against their running mate, Dr. Opoku Prempeh also known as NAPO.

Speaking at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi, where the party is launching is 2024 Manifesto, the Member of Parliament for Effutu indicated that NAPO is ready to transform the economy with his arrogance.

He lauded his exploits in rolling out the free SHS policy during his tenure as Education Minister when the programme’s implementation began.

“Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was there at the Education Ministry. He led the rollout of the Free SHS. Somebody who was a Professor was there and said that the Free SHS was not possible.

“Today she says she is Literature Professor. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is ready to debate this Literature Professor. She should not run away.

“Even if you tag him as arrogant, we know you’ve done it to Akufo-Addo it didn’t work. He is ready to transform Ghana with his arrogance as running mate to the flag bearer to become Vice President,” he indicated..

Thousands of supporters of the governing NPP have gathered at the GSTS today for the launch of the party’s manifesto ahead of the 2024 elections.

The event followed the party’s mammoth health walk in the Western Regional capital of Sekondi-Takoradi yesterday, Saturday, August 17.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong Monday, August 05, 2024, an eleven-member committee was set up to plan for the execution of the event with Oboshie Sai-Coffie as Chair and Abena Asante serving as Secretary.
