Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as ‘NAPO’, has pledged to continue supporting needy institutions in the Kumasi metropolis.
The 2024 running mate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) visited selected children’s homes and rehabilitation centres, describing it as a personal and long-standing responsibility, and promised to continue supporting them.
These institutions, which the former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South has supported for over two decades, he says, are a cause he takes seriously and pledges to continue supporting.
Among the institutions he has assisted over the years are the Kumasi Children’s Home, Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, and the Cheshire Home, among others in the Ashanti region where he visited on Monday.
During a presentation of items and an undisclosed amount of money to some of these institutions on Monday, June 9, 2025, the former Minister of Energy reaffirmed his commitment.
He stated, “I always thank God and ask that He gives me the means to help those in need. God has not abandoned me, and He makes things happen in this world. It’s been a while since I’ve visited, though you’ve heard of me. Now that I’m free, you’ll be seeing me here often. If we can survive on our own, we should be able to help those in need.”
The items donated included 3 bags of maize, 3 bags of gari, 6 bags of sugar and 30 boxes of tomato paste. He also presented 18 gallons of cooking oil, 18 boxes of mackerel, 30 packs of assorted drinks, 30 boxes of biscuits and an undisclosed amount of money.
He assured the institutions of his continued support and encouraged them to reach out whenever his assistance was needed.
NAPO emphasised that these contributions aimed to aid the daily operations and improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries.
On their part, the managers of the respective homes expressed gratitude for the gesture and promised to pray for God’s guidance and support for the donor.
