Some group of farmers have asserted that the National Best Farmer Award scheme instituted by the government some decades ago has become political since the current administration has been awarding persons loyal to the government in power.

Nana Oboadie, Chairman of the Concerned Farmers Association, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of only conducting political award shows on National Farmers’ day and not real measures in improving and promoting the agric sector.

He says the award scheme has not been honest and therefore lacks the potential to help improve the agriculture in the country.

“Akufo-Addo led administration has been dishonest. The One Dam One Village has collapsed because of lies and defective measures in realising it,” he told Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on GhanAkoma Friday, December 1, 2023.

He said, the farmers are doing their job to grow the sector which contributes significantly to the country’s GDP, however, government is not doing its part to grow the sector.
