The President of the National Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, who also doubles as the African Paralympic Committee, has denied reports that some registered para-athletes travelled to Norway for a sports event.

Mr Deen says no para-athlete, coach, official, foreign representative nor assign has gone to the Norwegian Embassy in Accra to seek assistance to participate in a sporting event.

This comes after the Ministry of National Security wrote to the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Youth and Sports regarding the disappearance of some 10 Ghanaian para-athletes and their coach, who later died after collapsing in Oslo.

Samson Deen believes his signature may have been forged for the move since he has no knowledge of the said event and the para-athletes involved.

“I want to appeal to the people of Ghana that the pictures, the images, the stories that [are] going viral ha[ve] nothing to do with any member or anyone they see in the picture,” he stated in a short video to dispel the reports.

“None of them are or have involved or have or are associated to this people. The letters that was sent with my signature on it were forged by these guys which is Ernest Ayisi and Theodore Mawuli who led, who did all these forged documents, fraudulently used my documents to acquire visas for some people who are very unknown to the Paralympic family.”
