Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has submitted a formal communication to the party leadership regarding the nomination of his Running Mate in accordance with Article 45 of the NDC Constitution.
A reliable source close to Onua Online has hinted that the chosen candidate is likely to be Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
This will make it the second time the former Education Minister and Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, will be running with John Mahama in an election after the 2020 polls.
The submission of the name which is yet to be unveiled was contained in a press release dated Tuesday, February 27, 2024, and signed by the General Secretary, Franklin Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
“In response to this communication, the party is pleased to announce that a meeting of the Council of Elders will convene at 11:00 hrs on Thursday, March 07, 2024, to deliberate on this significant matter. Subsequently, the National Executive Committee will gather at 14:00 hrs on the same day to further consider the nomination,” the release revealed.
“The NDC is confident that the Running Mate will bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and dedication to our campaign. The selection will undoubtedly complement the vision of our esteemed leader, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, as we collectively strive to “Build the Ghana We Want together,” the NDC stated.

The information by Onua Online’s source, is corroborated by a recent remark made by the Special Aide of the former President who is also his sister, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, to the effect that she would prefer Mahama goes with Professor Opoku Agyemang again.
