The processes preceding the parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodio constituency have been put on hold until further notice.

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party has referred the disturbances that occurred to a special committee for investigation and final determination of the matters arising in the exercise.

During the party’s vetting of candidates at the national headquarters, a riot ensued which led to the disruption of the process.

According to the release from the party, one of the candidates who has been cleared was not eligible per some party supporters who were at the scene, leading to the disturbances.

In a statement issued Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the FEC of the party says the decision was arrived after careful consideration by the leadership.

The Odododiodio constituency had to embark on a parliamentary primary after its incumbent MP who was also the 2024 candidate for the upcoming elections, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, pulled out of the process.
