Social media users have reacted to comment by the Energy Minister and running mate to the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh alias NAPO during his official unveiling in Kumasi.
At the rally grounds on Tuesday, July 9 shortly after he was unveiled, Dr. Opoku Prempeh while addressing party supporters touted the NPP’s achievement as the best ever under any government Ghana has had.
He said no President including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has developed Ghana better than President Akufo-Addo.
“I can boldly say that if the history of Ghana is told from 1957, we have never had a president that has helped Ghana more than Nana Akufo-Addo. I mean from 1957, even including your Kwame Nkrumah, none of them has protected Ghana and developed the country more than Nana Akufo-Addo,” he said in Twi at his official unveiling event at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on July 9, 2024.
However, Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comment has been met with discontent and vilification by social media users.
Netizens in replying to the statement by the running mate to Dr, Bawumia criticised Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his comment and vehemently opposed his assertion.
One user on X said: “This is the arrogancy people are talking about, why mention Kwame Nkrumah? How many hours now that his grandfather has advised him less than four hours? See what he’s saying. Character is like a pregnancy one day it will come out.”
Another tweeted: “Not even “your” Kwame Nkrumah. Kasa by-heart.”
“I think NAPO should do the honorable thing by apologizing to Ghanaians and the whole of Africa for speaking that way against Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Does he even know what it takes to build a concrete road from Tema to Accra? What about the Akosombo Dam?” another person wrote on X.
