The newly elected national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by National Chairman John Boadu, have paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor to formally introduce the party’s new leadership to him.
The visit to the former President’s residence comes days after the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Boadu, a former General Secretary of the party, polled 2,888 votes representing 47.19 per cent to defeat former Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, who had 2,408 votes, former Chairman Paul Afoko with 790 votes and Sammy Crabbe with 41 votes.

He leads an 11-member executive including Justin Frimpong Kodua who retained his position as General Secretary with 4,486 votes, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea as Vice Chairmen, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as National Organiser, Mavis Hawa Koomson as Women’s Organiser, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu as Youth Organiser, Alfred Kojo Thompson as Treasurer, Mohammed Ali Suraj as Nasara Coordinator and Dennis Miracles Aboagye as Communications Director.
The new team has been tasked with rebuilding the party’s structures ahead of the 2028 general elections after the NPP’s defeat in 2024.
However, the outcome has already sparked debate among political analysts and opposition parties.
Some analysts have questioned whether the new executives inspire confidence for a comeback, pointing to the fact that Boadu himself lost the General Secretary position while the party was still in power.
The NDC’s Hamza Suhuyini has argued that the party’s reliance on old faces like Boadu and Nana B does not signal a new strategy, a view the NPP has dismissed, with the new leadership pledging to build a “renewed NPP that listens more, consults more and organises better.”
Meanwhile, Solomon Owusu, Director of Communications for the United Party, has also asked the National Security to prepare for violence in the 2028 general elections, following the election of ex-convict Kojo Fosu Boadu, a.k.a. Kojo Bamba, as First Vice Chairman of the party, due to the number of violent incidents he led as then leader of vigilante group, Delta Force, which ended him in jail.
