Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussah Dankwah has said that the eventual winner of the national chairmanship race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, was bound to win the election.
He explained that the delegates of the NPP were looking out for someone who could unite the party because disunity was a major concern for them.
Among all the national chairman aspirants, including Boakye Agyarko, John Boadu was the only one seen as having the ability to unite the party, hence his victory.
“Delegates were much concerned about division in the NPP, and so they held on to someone who could unite them.
“There was no way John Boadu was not going to win. The priority was unity and he was the one they perceived to be unity,” he said.
The Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, was elected National Chairman of the party at its National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Mr Boadu, who polled 2888, emerged victorious ahead of former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, 2048 votes, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko, who polled 490 votes.
His election formed part of the NPP’s national executive elections, which brought together more than 7,000 delegates to elect officers to nine national positions.
Mr Boadu’s victory followed a last-minute alliance with Sammy Crabbe, who stepped down from the chairmanship race and urged his supporters to vote for Mr Boadu.
Mr Crabbe announced the alliance on Saturday as voting got underway at the conference.
Mr Boadu had also been among the leading contenders in several pre-election surveys conducted ahead of the election.
Meanwhile, Justin Frimpong Kodua has been re-elected as the NPP’s General Secretary.
