The Ghana Police Service has debunked allegations of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, being asked to proceed on leave.

The Service says the IGP is still at post and discharging his duties as has been mandated by the President.

In a statement issued Sunday, June 30, 2024, the police said the news is fake and asked the public to treat it with the contempt is deserved.

The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to some media reports suggesting that the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has been asked to proceed on leave.

We would like to urge the public to disregard this fake news and treat same with the contempt it deserves.

The Inspector-General of Police remains committed to his patriotic duty of leading the Ghana Police Service as per the mandate given him by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
