The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central region, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has warned delegates of the Bantama constituency in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, to vote against their legislator, Francis Asenso-Boakye, in the party’s upcoming primaries.

Ken Agyapong has alleged that Asenso-Boakye is a nation wrecker who allegedly indulged in corrupt practices whilst serving as Deputy Chief of Staff prior to becoming a Member of Parliament.

The Assin Central lawmaker who contested the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and lost to the Vice President, has further alleged that Mr. Asenso-Boakye is stealing from the Ministry of Works and Housing where he is currently the substantive minister.

He cited a journalist in the country whom he said can attest to the MP’s corrupt practices, including some demands he made from a Chinese national whilst serving at the Presidency.

“How much have you not stolen from the [Ministry of Works and] Housing that…, you were taking $20,000 bribes when you were a deputy Chief of Staff. Do you think that man was lying? Go and ask Kwabena Asante of Adom FM, ask him if the US$20,000 he (Asenso-Boakye) demanded from the Chinese was paid,” he alleged.

The vociferous NPP stalwart also revealed that a statement he made some time ago concerning persons disgracing the President at the Jubilee House was a salvo he shot at Mr. Asenso-Boakye for the sums he demanded from people before granting them access to the President.

“If you will remember, I cautioned the NPP of disgracing Nana Akufo-Addo, those who were taking money at the Jubilee House before allowing people to see the President, I was referring to Asenso-Boakye, I’m telling you, today,” he disclosed.

Per some of the utterances made by Mr. Agyapong, his campaign against Asenso-Boakye’s candidature stems from a comment he made against him prior to the NPP presidential primary.

In his (Ken Agyapong) words, the Bantama MP had said the NPP should prefer opposition to voting for Ken Agyapong as its flag bearer, making him threaten the delegates not to vote for Asenso-Boakye.

“You should be ashamed of yourself to go and vote for a corrupt MP like Asenso again. I’m telling you, I don’t mince words, I don’t care how you feel. That is the gospel truth because Ghana first. You get power to make utterances such as ‘for Ken Agyapong, then we should go to opposition’.”

The Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee threatened to make damning revelations should the delegates make a mistake and retain the MP.

“Today, Asenso says he was nurtured and not reared. If you make a mistake and vote for Asenso, you’ll see the revelations I will bring. Yes, I’m telling you. It’s a condition; If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him, if you want me to talk, vote for him and I challenge all of you because we won’t allow you to ruin Ghana,” Ken Agyapong threatened.
