Voting is underway in the Manhyia South Constituency as New Patriotic Party delegates vote in the Parliamentary primary to choose a replacement for the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).
The process has been smooth despite allegations of vote buying.
Police and Electoral Commission officers arrived on time to supervise the exercise.
They had to repeatedly intervene to ensure order as some aspirants and their agents raised concerns about how some delegates were flouting voting rules.
537 polling station executives from 107 polling stations , six electoral area coordinators , five council of Elders, five patrons and 17 constituency executives are taking part in the exercise.
Four candidates are contesting the primary which includes Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, brother of the incumbent MP, Nana Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, Lawyer Baffour Awuah and James Owusu Boakye.
The leadership of the party is on grounds to address issues that may come up.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the incumbent MP for the area, who has resigned as Energy Minister, as a result of his overwhelming endorsement and consequently outdooring as a running mate to Dr Bawumia, the NPP 2024 presidential candidate, has paved way for today’s primary.
